B & N Fine Woodworking is our dream come true! We started B & N Fine Woodworking as a small side hustle to scratch the itch we had to build and create beautiful pieces. Brian's love for woodworking started years ago when he attended a trade school for cabinet making and fine woodworking after apprenticing with a successful local woodworker. He has a natural talent and a true passion for creating gorgeous pieces. Nikki, who enjoys all things artistic, enjoys designing pieces and staining and finishing once Brian has completed a build. We could only fit so much furniture into our own home, so it made sense to start making things for family and friends. During the day we worked our day jobs and afterwards we came home, scarfed down dinner, and got right to work building and finishing pieces late into the night. This went on for a while, but it got to the point we had to start turning down clients because we didn’t have the time to do it all, work full time demanding jobs and do what we truly loved doing at the same time. So finally, in the fall of 2020, a tumultuous year for many, ourselves included, we knew it was time for a big change.
Nikki quit her full-time job with benefits and a pension to run the business full time. Somebody needed to be there day in and day out handling all the not-so-fun stuff that goes into running a business. Some people called us crazy for giving up such a good job, but life is short and we'd say we are just crazy enough to do it! Brian continued working 90-hour work weeks at his day job while working on the business in the evenings for the next year. But our hard work paid off in September of 2021. In that first year our business had grown so much Brian was able to leave his high stress overworked management job to work a normal work week with a company that values a work-life balance. We’ve since moved our shop to a much larger piece of property with room for growth over the years and we are diligently working on continuing to take our business to the next level.
So, what’s our next goal, you ask?
Our next goal is to continue growing our business and getting to the point both of us can do this completely full time. We make it work with one of us full time and the other working a “day job” still, but the end goal is to be able to do this together 100% of the time. We strive to bring beautiful, functional, pieces to your homes. Our homes are a safe haven to express ourselves and our style and they should look the part. We want our clients to come home after a long day of work, see our pieces adorning their homes, and truly feel happy about the space they have created for themselves with the help of our décor and furniture.
